Anxiety Therapy

One of the topics that comes up most in therapy is anxiety. In today’s world, people talk about feeling anxious or having a panic attack flippantly, without understanding what it can be like. However, these feelings can be deeply uncomfortable and disrupt your life. Whether you have anxiety related to a specific topic or event, a lingering feeling, or an overwhelming sense of panic, this is something we can work on together.

Often, anxiety is connected to a specific fear or a dreaded outcome. However, it’s not always obvious where that fear has come from or what it relates to. Feelings of anxiety provoke a response from us, triggering us to move or push them away. They can feel overwhelming at times, and a panic attack can be terrifying. We will work together to slow that process down so we can understand what is driving the fear. By understanding what’s sitting underneath the anxiety, we can begin to address the root cause directly. Your gut response might be to try and push the anxiety away, but taking time to get to know it can give you back a sense of control.

As anxiety can separate you from people and things that are important to your life, such as friendships, romantic relationships, and work, we can consider these impacts as well.
